second-hand engine block

Hello all. A while ago I saw a low kms. 2.3 liters block still in the car. It had coolant sitting in the cylinders, for a few months, from it's former head's failure. I had no interest at the time but I am now thinking of going back to have a look at it to see if the block is still good. I am wondering if the corrosion-inhibiting properties of coolant will have spared the cylinders, rings, etc...major damage or not? Opinions? Thank you!
