Do I really have a locking differential? How does it work? 700 1991

If it's on the window sticker, you probably still have it. There might be something in the 700/900 FAQ that lists about how to ID it, but the lockers are pretty easy to identify just by stepping on the gas...

On a wet day, start from a dead stop and turn a sharp right hand corner enough to start the inside wheel spinning. As the car hits 3-4mph, the other wheel will lock up with a mild *cccchunk* sound, and that's where the power slide begins. It's plainly obvious. Not obvious in snow, really. Fun when used right, never heard that the Eaton units had any inherent weaknesses (unless abused). Similar unit used in higher torque applications, if I'm not mistaken, and used successfully.
