I have an answer (long) 700 1990

Ok guys,

Thanks for all the responses. I called the Volvo dealer yesterday and they looked into it for me. They called back and said to bring in the car ASAP. (Saturday hours) I did. They spent about an hour walking around it and nodding their heads. One of the sales reps sat down with me and told me what I had. It is a Bertone but not any Bertone. It is a long wheelbase 700, sort of, they said. There was no official badging of this car, though they said it would probably be a 980. The front end back to the rear door is the same as a 7/940. As soon as you hit the rear door, it is 2 inches longer than normal. The trunklid is 1 inch shorter than a normal 740. However, it is not the same size as the 780 (go figure). The engine is a 2.3 Turbo+ with 187ish horsepower to carry around all the weight. The dealer also said that when he checked around, there were only a handful of the cars made and even less were shipped over to the States. The dealer could not quote me a price on the lid either. He's going to call Volvo North America on Tuesday and try to get a price. As soon as I get access to a digital camera I'll post some pictures. The car truly looks just like a normal 740 until you line it up against another car. Then you will see a difference. Also, when you are in the car, there is tons more legroom in the back.

Thanks to everyone,
Matt
