Broken Speedometer Cable--Again 1800

Tim,

You may have already got your anwser, but I was wondering where your cable is breaking???

The reason I ask is that some years back I had a situation close to this on my 1951 Dodge M37 powerwagon. I went through three cables in a row before I checked where the cables were breaking. To my suprise they were all twisting off on the same end.

Solution turned out to be that a small piece of the original cable had broken of in the tranny fitting. The cable had enough slack to tighten up but the square part of the cable was not seating the required 1.25 inches, only about .5 inches. Result was that the tranny end kept breaking off at the same spot.

Good luck

Oliver
