I received a set for electric front window regulators from a friend in Houston. They are supposed to be from an 86 wagon.
I tried to fit the regulators on my 93 240 wagon (UK spec). I expected a straight forward swap, but I cannot make it fit.
The handcrank currently fitted is mounted with 4 nuts about half way up the door. The four nuts are in a horizontal square pattern, just forward of the inside door release.
The electric regulator has the same bolt pattern, but when I fit is in the centre of the door, the arms don't fit and the electric motor interfers with the lowered window.
The only way I can it will fit is to have the regulator slanted and mounted lower in the bottom half, around 1/4 way up the door. Needless to say I will need to make some sort of adaptor plate to mount them.
How are the US model electric regulators fitted? I can only imagine the inside door panel must be different. Or is this because it is a pre 86 (the big 240 upgrade) issue?
