driveshaft unhook

I thank you for that, I went out jacked the car up and I did find thoes 4 bolts. I put some wd40 on them tonight so maybe taking them off toamrrow won't be so hard. I know this is a dumb question, but what are the flanges. It talkes about them in the haynes manual, but I don't know if I saw them in a picture or not. (is there a cable that runs above the drive shaft? it looks like it was rubbing on it and now has eaten 70% through it.....)
