Removal of Wiper Cowl

Greetings,

I had really wet carpets on the drivers side, both front and rear, and determined that water was getting into the vehicle from the fresh air vent plug behind the drivers kick plate. The local dealership said that water should not be coming in there and that I should pull the wiper cowl and search for a possible accumulation of debris, which would cause the water to back up high enough to leak out of the vent plug. It does not look that difficult to pull that cowl but if anyone can give me some pointers, special techniques, etc., I would be most appreciative. The Haynes manual says three screws and some clips.
For me it is never as easy as it sounds. The car is an 88 740 GLE. Thanks.
Jim Hummel
