Thanks John. Very interesting.

My 87(152,000 miles) has mild piston slap, and another noise that I cant seem to pinpoint. Its one of those that you'd probably need to tear the whole thing apart to find. Doesnt seem to slow her down though.

Once you get her up on the highway its like "what engine noise?

If I ever decide to replace the engine, Im going to consider putting in one of the later ones.
