Computer resets values?? 700

I have posted another question about my 1900 745ti, concerning the foulup in engine performance after removing and replacing the transmission/clutch/flywheel. Talking the problem over with a Saab mechanic, he mentioned that the engine's control computer might have reset itself while the battery was unplugged for 8 days. He said that Saabs (which use Jetronics, too) will reset what he called "adaptive values", which are values the computer changes over time to reflect the current state of the engine, such as throttle valve goopiness, sparkplug condition, etc.

Have any of you folks heard of this, and if so, do you know any way to reset the values closer to what they used to be? Mr Saab says that in Saabs you drive the car at about 35 mph, shut off the engine, restart the engine, and drive around for awhile.
