Code 221 and 231 200

Resetting the adaptive trim part was where I stumbled.
After replacing the ECT in my 1991 240 Wagon I received code 221 and 231 with a very rough and surging idle. My oxygen sensor did not pass the voltage test so I replaced it. The poor idle continued. I searched high and low for a vacumm leak and found a crack in the air intake hose. After replacing the hose the poor idle continued. I cleaned and greased the AMM connection and the poor idle continued. My next move was to replace the fuel injector seals and then I thought about what you had said, "you'll need to reset the adaptive trim". I disconnected the battery and now the old 240 is idling like the old Singer Sewing Machine.

I figured I had just missed those instructions in the Haynes manual but a look there and the FAQ produced no instructions for resetting the adaptive trim. Am I the only one that missed this trick??
