I'm going to rebuild my B21F engine. I would like to paint a lot of parts; block, cylinder head, intake manifold, oil pan, etc. I'm worried about the engine overheating because of this. I know that the rough surface on the castings helps in the cooling of the engine, but I've never had an overheating problem with my car.
I was wondering if:
0. Has someone has ever painted the engine as I describe here?
1. What suggestions can you offer me (even if it's not to paint the engine)?
2. If I do paint it, what's the correct application of paint?
ie.: Primer, paint, etc. OR should I just spray on a light paint coat?
3. What's the highest temperature the engine can reach? I would think the cylinder head would be the hottest thing at any given time.
4. I would like to smooth out the rough surface on the castings. Can I deburr them? I would like a smooth finish in order to paint the parts.
Thanks for your help.
