OK, I see some problems here already with the discussion. Jimmy might be referring to the early H1/H1 vs later H4/H1 set ups in 85 and back cars (using US model years which are not the years these things happened in Europe). I think the H4 sets are the better ones there and maybe that is what he means.
Now as for the IPD glass sets, I bet they are the Asian reproductions which are widely considered to be less than Cibie quality. Furthermore, IPD did not mention H4 bulbs in the ad I saw and only mentioned higher wattage lamps could be used. That is important to know.
The best lights for our newer 240s must still be the Euro-plastic-backed Volvo/Cibie glass lenses with H4 bulbs. I think the discount dealers want about $900 a set with all trim and turn signals.
