Rattle 700 1990

When going down the highway at over 65mph, I hear a constant rattle from the shifter. When I hold the shifter, the rattle stops, when I let go, it starts again.

Could this be something loose in the shifter assembly or is this the beginning of the end? I'ts the AW71 automatic tranny.
