rear lights on 740. What is this problem?

with the engine running and the tail lights on , if I press on the brake pedal the driver side tail/brake light will operate properly, but the right tail/brake light will go out completely/ no tail or brake light(there is a tail light before I push the brake pedal). However, if I turn the light about 1/8th" in its socket, it operates ok. Whats causing this to happen?
