Headliner dilema 700 1988

My 740 with sunroof has the classic a headliner problem, hanging down all over the place and several tears. I have read the archived postings and FAQ section on the subject but see no info on how to remove the moldings. I have gently pried hear and there but am afraid to get too agressive for fear of breaking them or the fasteners. The front and rear molding at the top of the windows seem to be particularly tough.
Anyone have hints on this subject?
