1989 Wont stay running

I am posting this for a friend of mine who has a 1989 240. She stated she just had the PVC valve and "some electrical" work done by a local reputable Volvo mechanic, but now is experiencing an odd problem, here it is:

She stated that the car will start fine but only runs for a minute or so and then it dies out. She said it also dies when she presses on the gas.

I have not seen the car, and she has only had it a month or so, so the maintenance history is unknown.

Any ideas?
