separate amp on 760? 700

I was about to install an in-dash CD player/changer from Blaupunkt when the installer said the car had a separate amplifier and he wanted $80 to wire around it. Then he said the unit would only support four speakers, instead of my six. So I returned it, tho it's a really nifty product at a great price.


Anybody know where this alleged amp is? Nothing in the FAQ about it. And my factory Alpine receiver unit says it's 2x20 watts, so how could that also be going through an amp?
