Need help. Planning on spending around $3,500 - $4,000. Should I be looking at a 240 or 740? Want something easy to work on myself to save money...being poor as I am!
Thinkin about a wagon also..need something to throw the Great Dane in the back of!

Like the 240 and 740. Of course the 740 has more bells and whistles, but which is easier to work on..cheaper to maintain (maybe I shouldn't use the word cheaper here)etc. I've already heard to stay away from 850's (a mechanic told me this), anything with a 6 ..i.e., 760, 960 etc. is also a pain, and get the bulletproof B230 engine. Also, what are your opinions about getting a Turbo? (not a speed freak or anything...so not that important I guess).

Also, should I go for something that has higher miles (125,000 to 165,000)with records...or lower miles but they can't provide records? I know all Volvo lovers lament about how their cars get tons of miles, and I believe it, but kinda leary. Does the 740 get as high mileage on the engines as the 240?
Let's see..what else? Guess that's it for now.

Planning on buying in the next couple of weeks, getting excited to own a Brick!
