1990 740gle with b234 engine help!! 700 1990

I just bought a 1990 740 gle with the 16v engine. I was told that the timing belt had slipped/broke. Should I try to fix this baby or replace the engine with a b230ft or f?

If I try to fix should I buy remanufacted head or a used one? I don't see a lot about these engines, and I'm kinda at a loss as for what to look for.

The body and interior are nearly perfect on the 1990, it was too pretty to pass up for just $300.

I have a 1985 740gle/B230F that runs okay, but cosmetically is rough, I love the car... especially after putting some IPD sway bars on, and if I can get a newer, nicer looking one, with about 40hp more, without putting over another $1000.00 in I'd be very happy!!

Any comments/suggestions.. where would I get technical info..
