I think I killed my crank sensor?? 700

I just finished changing my timing belt on my 91 740 wagon but as I was used to my old 85 245(which did'nt have this thin ring ) I jammed the screwdriver into the thin metal ring in the access window and tried to loosen the cranknut. when it bent the metal I used the teeth and successfully completed the job. Unfortunately when I went to start up, it starts but runs very rough and won't rev up and misses alot. I then read the forums again ( which I should have done first) and came across the part about the crank position sensor. I know I bent it so am I doomed to tow this car to the mechanic and have him replace the sensor ring plate?
How much are those plates anyway. Does it matter if they are a little bent in one place. I fell like crying!!!!Any feedback would be great, Thanks, John
