Over last 3 weekends I have completed major tune up stuff on my daughter's 244 with B230F engine, 180K miles. Did a compression test while plugs were out and measured 190 190 195 200. I thought that normal compression would be around 160. Why could this be so high? Car performs normally.
Work done:
Plugs, wires, rotor, cap (cap had internal crack causing bad miss)
Checked compression
flushed tranny
replaced engine accessory bushings (compressor was at an angle)
checked O2 sensor output for proper voltage swings
adjusted mixture setting on AMM
Checked charging voltage
replaced broken gear in the odometer
replaced timing belt
replaced 3 front seals
checked valve clearance (all were .016 or .017 cold)
replaced all front belts
checked timing
brake pads, rotors all around (rears were causing severe pulsing)
checked flame trap (was very clean)
checked preheat thermostat
cleaned throttle body (was very, very dirty)
Adjusted TPS and throttle linkage
Adjusted base idle and checked idle speed.(was high at 900 rpm, idle control motor is working, I believe the ECU thinks the AC is on when it is not, have to troubleshoot this)

Whew, lot of work.

Anyhow anybody have thoughts on that high compression?
