how the hell do you get the a/c belt on??? 200 1982

ok, I am at a loss for words, am I a complete idiot or is there no tensioner whatsoever for the a/c belt? The belt comes from the crank to the a/c, from the a/c there's another belt to the power steering, that has a tensioner, so where's the tensioner for the a/c to crank belt? I have completely unbolted the bracket holding both the a/c and the power steering and tried to pivot it in to get the belt around it, no luck, the belt's too tight. I have looked in both haynes and chilton manuals and neither say anything about the a/c tensioner, maybe because there isn't one?
