There have been endless discussions on the board about the pro's and con's of everthing, including DEXCOOL, and frankly it does not contribute to chime in with "listen up shadetrees, here's what a PRO said." and just parrot someone grasemonkey's opinion. The fact that someone works for a living doing something does not necessarily raise their opinion to godlike status, I've met plenty of moronic certified Volvo techs, and I've met plenty of good ones.
I reply:
This is the most profound thing I've read in a while! I'm serious too. I can't relate how many times some twit behind a parts counter quips in on how some thing or another won't do me any good. I'm too polite to reply, and there jerks are usually bigger than I am, that if they are so damned smart, why are YOU working behind a counter and not designing something or other? What Engineering degree do YOU have?
I went to the local NAPA to pick up a VOV, Variable Orifice Valve for my A/C. The self proclaimed expert examined the papers I had printed off the AC web site and he offered that he didn't think it would do anything for me. Now this guy and I had been talking about AC for a few mins and he said he didn't have A/C in his car. So I didn't want to encite him and offer an observation that he didn't even HAVE A/C. What a dope.
Then there are the stereo salesmen who try to get me to buy some super dooper speaker wire that has different sized wires in the bundle because of skin effect and bla bla bla. Then there's the cell phone antennas that use RG-58U which is a sieve at 800 Mhz.
Of course Jiffy Lube sold my wife on a fuel injection cleaning service, and she was proud to tell me too. I couldn't beleive she was fooled like that.
