I just received the claim forms from the other guy's insurance company.First let me say that the guy had full coverage on his vehicle.I hve two claims that i will fill out and return to the insurance company. One is for the company that will repair his car and the other co. is for the repairs on my car I think. I have never heard any thing like that before. I went to one of the Carstar auto body plces here in Chicago and basically the guy came out and look at the damage took a couple of digital pictures and that's it. Did not give me an estimate. Did not look at the engine compartment. He told me that the ins.co. will let me know how much the damage is estimated.I told him that I may have some internal damage because I 'm hearing/feeling some vibration. Not sure where but definately post collision. Also my car's rpms are really high. I looked under the hood and noticed the throttle cable is tight. I have to put my foot under the accelerator and pull back to bring the idle down. There is also an oil and power steering fluid leak. So anyway the CArstar guy tells me to call the ins. and they will take care of that issue.I called the ins. co. and they told me once an adjuster is assigned to this claim, he will let me know where to take the car for an estimate for the engine issues. Currently my is parked in front of my house. A few questions i have.
1 Should Ibe driving my car? The ins.co. that will repair his car suggested that if the car is drivable than I could take to one of there offices so an adjuster can take a look at the car.
2 Both of the forms asks for estimate damage on my car.I have been told how much damage so should I get out there and go get estimates for my car on my own?Now that means I will have to drive my car to these places.
3 His ins. will not issue me a rental car UNTIL the car is ACTUALLY in the shop. Now I think that is CRAP.
4 What are my next moves?
Sorry for the long message and Thank you very much for any advice.
