The 90 740T has LH 2.4 injection. BSR in Sweden sells a chip for the LH 2.4 fuel injection and also a chip for the later EZK ignition ECUs. As far as I know, only one or two people in the US have bought a chip, and those people bought only the fuel injection chip. I doubt you will find one to copy, but maybe you will get lucky and someone who has one will respond. There is also a fellow in Thailand who makes chips for LH 2.4 injection, but I seem to have lost his e-mail and he very rarely posts to the Volvo forums that I follow. I know of no one who has imported one of his chips.
Let us know what you come up with and whether you learn along the way whether the older LH 2.2 can be chipped.
The little bit I did learn about the BSR chip is that most of the power gain comes from raising the boost to 13.5 psi. Still, one person who tested before and after with a G-Tech claimed that the chipped car was nearly a second faster even with the same boost level with the stock chip. I suppose it is possible that the stock fuel maps are that far off. I am not sure how much the ignition chip would help, but generally stock ignition maps are not optimal for performance.
