Very carefully.


First disconnect the defroster wires.

Then carefully pry the edge of the rubber gasket up and over the "lip" or flange in the tailgate sheet metal. Work your way around the opening, and soon you can lift the glass (with the gasket, or grommet, still on it) out of the opening.
