Ignition Questions Problem 140-160 1970

I just installed the Ignitor points-free electronic ignition in my 70 144s (B20B). The car starts up much easier now and seems to run stronger off the line (even the windshield wipers go faster, which is odd), however, I noticed immediately the idle was sort of rough. The engine feels like it's misfiring at speeds at or below 1000 rpm. As soon as you hit the gas, the engine smooths out and the car accelerates quickly and smoothly. I double checked my installation and the gap (between the module and magnet) is set correctly with the gap checker provided, however, the instructions say to use the provided spacer as needed to allow the bottom of the module to line up with the bottom of the magnet. Even without the spacer the module sits a little high. I'd say 1/4 of the module is above the magnet. Also, I noticed the rotor, which fits over the magnet, seems to rest on it. I'm not sure if this is correct, but it is working and the cap doesn't seem to be getting damaged from the rotor sitting a bit higher. Everything else in this car has been replaced or adjusted (plugs, wires, timing set, carb adjusted, etc.). I'm worried maybe it's defective or that I don't have the correct distributor for this ingition module (since the magnet sits so low). Even though it's the original distributor, it may not be the aluminum one like I thought it was.
