Re: B20 exhaust options in 122 120-130 1967

Hi Again Danny ....

I have installed a 2" system that my local MIDAS built for me ... and I am about to install the same intake/exhaust manifold as you already have. The difference that the 2" system made is unbelievable !!! and well worth the work ... mine isn't stainless but hey, if you have the spare bucks it should be a good investment.

According to the research I've done the dual downpipes come in 2 diameters ... 1 7/8" and the Fuel injected engine had a 2 1/8" collector ... I am going to try to get a 2 1/8" pipe for mine .... that is all I am waiting for ... except that a friend is going to be able to get my new manifold glass beaded before I install it ... and also I already have the new studs for both the carbs and head pipe that will also be installed before the manifold goes on the car.

Having owned a car with headers on it back in the 70s ... I can appreciate the increased power that headers will give you .... however, the flip side of headers is that they are VERY prone to coming apart ... The engine I had them on was Ford OHC 2 liter ... I tended to blame the disintegration of the welds as due to harmonic vibration set up in the tubes by the engine .. spent more damn time getting them rewelded than you could ever believe... and lots and lots of $$$$$$$ .. sooooo if the dual downpipe manifold and head pipe system can give anywhere near the performance increase without the attendant breakage and maintenance I'm all for it !!!
