Mid to late 50's engine information needed.

Hi, I have a Volvo engine, gearbox and radiator. I am trying to get more info about the engine. All I know is what the guy told me. It's from the mid to late 50's. and it could be a 1.4L or 1.6L engine. The engine has 2 carbs and a generator(6 volt system??). I am amazed it still has good compression after sitting over 15 years and did get it to run on a prime! Before I go any farther, I like to get more infomation about it before I take the carbs apart to clean the out the gunk in them.
