There have been posts in the past regarding torquing the head and rod bolts, and re-use of the head and rod bolts. For head bolts, the bolts should be tightened first to 14 ft-lbs in the sequence shown in the service manual, and then to 43 ft-lbs, in sequence. Then the head bolts are angle tightened through an additional 90 degrees in one movement, in the same sequence. The head bolts are reusable if the center section does not show signs of being stretched, but do not reuse the bolts more than five times. If in doubt, use new bolts. For connecting rod bolts, the bolts are torqued to 14 ft-lbs, and then angle tighten through an additional 90 degrees. The connecting rod bolts can be re-used if the length does not exceed 55.5 mm (2.187 inches). For the angle tightening, I use a Snap-On torque angle gauge, part number TA360. I am sure that others make an equivalent torque angle gauge. Angle torquing puts the bolts inot the yield region for the bolts, and insures uniform, maximum tension on the bolts.
