Kino,
1) whjich amp there are/were 2 a 2 channel amp and a 4 channel amp..
The small 2 channel amp is behind te glovebox attached to a bracket underneath the dash...remove the glove box and you will see it, (1) Blackcable and (1) set of multicolored cables, held in by a single screw thru the top of the bracket to the firewall..
The 4 channel amp is usually under the kneepad attached to the firewall on the passenger side about where your left foot would be ...black box with (1) Black cable, (2)sets of multicolored wires, and separate ground wire...held in place by a pair of side mounts...also it can sometimes be mounted to the bar above the brake pedal under the drivers kneepad..same type of sidemount plates..
to disconnect from the radio...
1)Remove the glove box-7 screws and put it on top of the dash..
2)Pop off the 2 gauge covers to the right of the speedo..remove the 2 phillips screws..
3)Look inside the glovebox hole and see if there is a radio brace arm attached to the rear right side of the radio chassis...if so remove the screw that holds it to the radio and then..
4)Slide thew radio out of the dash opening...
5) you will have a couple of sets of wires..
A black antenna wire...
A set of 8 wires comng from rear of radio to 9 pin white plastic connector
* This is where the AMP is connected to the harness...DISCONNECT THE PLUG HERE and pull out the rest of the harness until you find ANOTHER 9 PIN CONNECTOR..DISCONNECT THIS AS WELL...treat the new found chassis side connector as the real radio wiring...also look for a small black or brown 4 pin connector...that is the rear speaker connection from the amp and you need to hook into it to access the rear speakers...cut it off on the AMP side and use the connector to make the install easy...
There will be a single blck cable coming from a DIM connector on the rear of the radiochassis marked AMP...this is the pre amp feed tothe amp, DISCONNECT THIS and that is it..
Pull the cables back to the amp from below the dash and unscrew the mounting screws on the sides of the amp..
Disconnect the amp chassis ground wire..
Have a beer/egg nog...
