red hot exhaust manifold 140-160 1973

The two center exhaust ports on my B20f engine get red hot after idling for a short while. While its idling the water temp. is normal, but as soon as I shut the engine down the water starts boiling! I took out the thermostat, replaced the manifold gaskets, adjusted timing, flushed out the radiator. Anyone have any suggestion? Thanks for your input. Larry
