I just put a Bosch blue coil in my car in anticipation of installing my Crane electronic ignition. I ran a wire from the + side of the new coil to the switched terminal on the back of the ignition switch as mentioned in the Vclassics tech article on Crane ignition installation.
The problem I seem to have is that when I crank the engine, the voltage at that terminal drops to almost nothing and the motor won't start. If I crank it a couple of times and release the key to the Run position, the voltage jumps back up to around 12 v and the engine will (usually) start and run great.
Is this a problem with my existing switch or something else. I'm not against cutting into the armored cable if I have to and it wouldn't hurt my feelings to just install an aftermarket ignition switch.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob
