Several things come to mind.

First, V-belts are fairly tolerant of misalignment.

Second, I don't remember which model car you have but the

240 (and maybe others) DO have shims that go in the middle of,

and behind the pulley, to adjust the belt tension by adjusting

the effective diameter of the pulley (narrower = bigger) and you

may be able to use shims you have or get some more to space it

further out.

Third, you may be able to shift the compressor slightly in

the bolt holes.
