Re: Clutch replace: IS IT NEEDED? 700 91

You can buy a CAT from many dealers, IPD has them too. As for the rest of it, be prepared to replace the whole lot when you do the throwout bearing. The trans is out, everything is accessable so why not, including the rear seal. Besides, the clutch plate, or driven plate, might just be down to the rivets. Watch the flywheel alignment too.

If your car is a turbo, it has a stepped flywheel and the pressure plate sticks out farther to compensate, the NA models mave a flat flywheel and a flush pressure plate.

Is it needed? Mayde, maybe not, but it's apart and why do it again in a few thousand miles. Watch out for the dust, nasty stuff.

BTW, properly support the car with jack stands. The upper bellhousing bolts can be reached from underneath with long extensions and a u-joint. See the 700/900 faq via the 'features' pull dowm menu. Lots O'good stuff.
