P1800 Speedo Trouble

The speedo in my '68 isn't working, I think it's just a broken cable but I want to check the unit itself to see that it is working before I hook a new cable to a broken speedometer. The question is; HOW DO I GET THE SILLY THING OUT OF THE DASH?

Also, does anyone know a good DIY manual for P1800 repairs?
