Fuel system problem - no start - warm 200 1992

My '92 240 has developed a rather frustrating intermiitent problem. Sometimes after being driven a while, usually on stop and go errand hops, the car will not start. I noticed that when this happens I don't hear the fuel pump go through its pressuring up cycle. If I cycle the key on and off a few times the pump will cycle and the engine starts. I have replaced the fuel pump relay but the problem persists. Is the ignition switch itself at fault? The fact that this happens only when warm may be a coincidence - or maybe not. I have an 84 240 with ove 400K miles on it and I have never had this happen to it.

Thanks!
