Mainly because of the ratios-- you always seem to be in the wrong gear. I don't have alot of experience with other European transmissions, but the box in my dad's '87 Acura Legend Coupe is geared perfectly, precise, and alot less balky as my m46. The Volvo transmission lends itself to the 'somewhere up there' school of thought for shifting into 3rd, I'd prefer the 'right here' way of thinking.
