This '86 245 (B230F/AW70), with 187K had been sitting in a field quite a while before I recovered it last summer for reconditioning.
While running the engine then, I noticed that the AC compresor threw off oil. The oil sprayed out from the front of the radial compressor and wet everything above and below. Of course, the AC doesn't blow cold.
I am trying to figure out what failed on the compressor and if this is something I can repair, or, if I need to replace the unit.
Is it a matter of replacing the shaft seal, ot the entire unit. (I did not hear any unusual noises to indicate a bearing problem)
