What is the sensor on the back of the engine? 200 1984

I have the flywheel off the B21FT and there is a sensor of some sort mounted in the right side of the engine block, pointing towards the back of the flywheel. I can't follow the wire very well but I didn't think this car had a flywheel sensor. I also don't see anything on the flywheel that it could be sensing...
