Hi!

I have a really strange oil smell in my car. It happens when I stop from accellerating hard, or if the car sits in idle for a while. The oil smells like it's burning. I check the oil level, always ok. THis is what I've done so far:

replaced dist. o-rings, cleaned the whole thing, including where the dist. shaft goes into the cam. THe distributor is properly mounted, and bolts are of the correct tightness. Presently, no oil in the distributor.

There are no apparant leaks from the cam cover, although when I pulled it off, there was no gasket. Is that normal? If I was to seal it with something, would that be a problem?

I'm pretty sure that the leak is coming form somewhere on top of the motor, and hitting the exhaust manifold. THe thing is, I can never seem to locate where it's leaking from. Otherwise, the engine is tight, compreesion is good, idle is acceptable. No othe major leaks. Any ideas?
