Essentially this is what Volvo did when they turned B23's into B230's, but coupled with pistons with shorter skirts. I would think like George that the gain would be so small as to really not being worth the bother.

I would imagine that all you'll achieve is unreliability. I think you would need a different bearing since the tang that stops the bearing from turning in the rod is to the outside of the eye in the conrod.

You could always fit a B230 engine in the place of the B20
