Re: Trunk leaks 700 1989

Three '80's 240's all leaked in the trunk. rubber rejuvenator (not armourall) and trunk lid height adjustment, lowering trunk lid toward seal for a tighter seal solved problem. Adjustment is on the trunk lid hinges.

Had to replace lid seal on one, $40 @ boneyard in Seattle. Rubber rejuvenator before putting it on and every once in a while after cured

problem.

I've looked at several 240's for sale and the degeneration of the seal shows as missing pieces, or missing surface cover, which shows sorta like the difference between the top and the interior of a brownie. The drains, top @ both corners are small and get clogged easily. The next step of bad seal degredation in my experience is rust breaking through the paint @ the back edge of the body (interestingly enough, not on the trunk lid), above the rear bumper.

Hope that helps
