I guess it's all what you want in a car, priorities.

Acceleration: Tie (Stock advantage might be Volvo, but why stay stock?)

Handling: Neon (no contest)

Safety: Volvo (no contest)

MPG: Neon (30 city, 35+ hwy)

Longevity: Volvo (Bought the Neon new, 80k now, plan to get 150-175k mi out of it, although our 245 has 214k mi on it, and I'm sure the Neon will be falling apart by that time)

I love the sporty handling and quickness of the Neon, I also love the safety, room, and reliability of our 245. If I had to settle on only one car, I would probably go with a 740 turbo wagon and dump a couple thousand into power and handling improvements.
