Roy --

Sounds more like worn rear suspension bushings, particularly the trailing arm bushings. As the torque load varies, the rear end shifts a bit. This can steer the car from the back.

But, depending on the service history, the motor mounts, tranny mount, and front suspension (including ball joints) could also need attention. These will all influence the "tightness" of the car.
