I am recalling from memory as I had replaced most of the hoses/tubings in my 85 760 turbo.

That could be the vacuum hose for the heater valve. (rigid nylon tubing)

Perhaps if you give the hose internal diameter, that would give a clue. Or trace it to the end that is attached to something.
