Don't ever put oil on belts. Oil is detrimental to rubber. Put some belt dressing on. If the noise goes away, you know it's time for new belts. They tend to get glazed where they contact the pulleys and start making noise. This is common. I've experienced this on my 87 760. Consider the noise to an early warning system indicating that the belts need replacement.
