It sounds like you slipped a tooth putting the belt back on. I do not think there is any way the cam grind affects ignition timing. I would make sure the valve clearances are correct after the cam swap though. I found it easiest to put in the K, measure all clearances, remove the K, and swap in the batch of new shims. The clearances were much less with the K in there.
