I'd put a small amount of cash on a fuel delivery problem.
Fuel filter first. if that does help, check fuel delivery lines, pressure regulator, vacuum to regulator, pumps, intank pickup screen, injector spray patterns, and if all else fails try to get a fuel pressure gauge to make sure there is proper pressure.
When you gas it, the regulator closes up and raises pressure... If something is restricted, the pressure doesnt go up and the engine leans out.. bad power loss.
Could be your air meter also, but i'm 99% certain it's not since you'd notice it badly at lower speeds and idle will usually get fairly lumpy.
