Just tossing this out. A car at my friends shop had a similar problem. It turned out to be some crank sensor??? can anyone help me with this??

If that sensor isn't indicating the crank turning, it turns off the injectors. Is That right guys??

That would explain your 'almost start' you have fumes in the cylinders to giggle at you but it's not getting any more fuel to start it.
